ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Mercedes-Benz chairman, Jürgen Hubbert stated on Wednesday that he supports Turkey's EU membership bid and sees Turkey as being a part of the EU. He added, "We are making our plans for the future when Turkey will be a EU member.
At a promotion for the new Mercedes-Benz A Series, Hubbert spoke to Cihan's reporter. Hubbert stated, "The automotive market in Turkey is expanding and will be better in the future. We are planning new developments in the truck field. The necessary research has been carried out and will be put into effect within our schedule".
Hubbert stated that they had spent a total of 900 million euro in order to develop the new A series at Daimler Chrysler and that an extra 600 workers had been taken on at their factory in Rastatt, Germany. The new A series will be on sale as of September 2004 in both Turkey and across Europe.
