ANKARA - Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said Saturday that during his talks with Iraqi Minister of Oil Husayn al-Shahristani, they discussed projects aiming to bring Iraqi oil and natural gas to Turkey in an effort to diversify energy resources.
Shahristani, who arrived in Turkey in order to hold a series of talks, met his Turkish counterpart Guler on Saturday.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Guler said projects aiming to carry Iraqi oil and natural gas to Turkey topped the agenda of the talks.
He said such projects would be carried out by Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) and Turkish Petroleum International Company Ltd. (TPIC), adding that details of the new pipelines would be determined together with Iraqi officials.
Meanwhile, Shahristani said that Iraq desired to improve its cooperation with Turkey in energy sector.
He said Iraq wanted to provide gas to Turkey and it considered Turkey as a transit country.
