Gul Says No Country Can Tolerate Any Terrorist Organization

ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Friday that no country could tolerate any terrorist organization.
"No country can tolerate any organization that carries arms, attempts at or stages terrorist acts either on its own territory or in one of its neighbors," Gul told a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Jalal Talabani, who pays a two-day working visit to Turkey.
"Iraqi people knows best the agonies of terrorism and again they would understand the best that Turkey`s fight against terror and the terrorist organization PKK," Gul said.
"Turkish democracy is at European standards and everyone can express one`s opinions, speak their minds freely but Turkey, as any other country, will not tolerate those people who are after terrorism," Gul said.
Gul stated that Turkey and Iraq shared a common vision in bilateral relations and the future of the region, adding that ministers from the two countries will pay mutual visits in the coming days.
Gul said Turkey attaches great importance to the political unity, sovereignty, prosperity and security of Iraq.
"We would see an Iraq that achieved national consensus and developed friendly relations with its neighbors," Gul said.
