LJUBLJANA - Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin met on Thursday Slovenian Economy Minister Andrej Vizjak in Ljubljana, Slovenia and exchanged views on Turkey`s EU negotiation process, Alliance of Civilizations, Balkans regional meeting.
Speaking after the meeting, Aydin said he gave information about Turkey`s negotiation process and national program to Vizjak as Slovenia was the rotating president of the EU. "Slovenian minister stated that his country supported Turkey`s negotiation process," he added.
Aydin also said "Alliance of Civilizations" project was also discussed as the EU announced 2008 as the year of intercultural dialogue.
Aydin said he gave information to Vizjak on Alliance of Civilizations project, pointing out that realization of Turkey`s EU membership was an important part of the Alliance of Civilizations project.
The two ministers discussed regional developments in the Balkans as well as declaration of Kosovo`s independence, and stated that the parties would launch necessary initiatives for the preservation of permanent peace in the Balkans.
Aydin is scheduled to meet Slovenian Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Andrej Ster on Friday before returning to Turkey in the evening.
