Ankara Hosts Workshop On Turkey's Africa Policy

ANKARA - A workshop on Turkey`s Africa policy took place in Ankara on Thursday.
Executives from the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Prime Ministry, Turkish International Cooperation Agency (TIKA) and other ministries attended the workshop titled "2008 Turkey-Africa Agenda" organized by the Association of Diplomacy Correspondents and Turkish Asian Center for Strategic Studies (TASAM) in Ankara.
Suha Umar, director general for Bilateral Political Affairs for Africa and East Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech and said Turkey attached great importance to Africa.
Turkey`s policy of boosting relations with African states was launched in 1998 and the country attached great interest to this continent in areas such as politics and economy, Umar said.
Umar said Istanbul will host "Turkey-Africa Cooperation Summit" in August 2008 which will focus on several matters such as agriculture, health, education and security.
