BERLIN - A Turkish citizen was arrested on Tuesday in Germany after attempting to hijack a plane belonging to Turkish businessman Vural Oger's Freebird Airlines.
The plane was destined to Istanbul from Munich.
The 28-year old Turkish citizen tried to hijack the plane a few minutes after the plane took off saying that he was carrying a bomb, which was later revealed to be a mobile phone.
Airlines officials said the pilot then returned to the airport and landed the plane 43 minutes after take-off in Munich and the police detained the man.
None of the passengers or crew members were injured in the incident.
Name of the Turkish citizen and his motives were not clarified.
