State Minister Cubukcu In Brussels

BRUSSELS - Turkish State Minister Nimet Cubukcu held meetings with Vladimir Spidla, European Commission member for Employment, Social Affairs & Equal Opportunities, as well as Turkey rapporteur of European Parliament Ria Oomen-Ruijten in Brussels on Wednesday.
Cubukcu said that Turkey fulfilled very important reforms to improve women's rights since 2002. "Certainly, legal amendments are not enough alone. Implementation as well as training the society are important, too. We focus on these issues," she added.
Cubukcu said, "when we came into rule there were only six women shelter centers in Turkey. This figure will rise to 50 by the end of year."
