Turkish Economy Should Raise Productivity And Product Pricing, Gonenc

ISTANBUL - Rauf Gonenc, the head of Turkey Mission of Organization for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), said Wednesday Turkish economy should raise its productivity and product pricing in order to maintain its competitive power.
"Only large-scale companies and firms with a capital power can achieve this," he told a meeting in Istanbul organized by the Turkish Confederation of Employers' Associations (TISK).
Gonenc said employment in Turkey was approximately up 0.7 percent between 2002 and 2006.
"This raise was 5.7 percent in waged employment and 3.9 percent in non-agriculture employment," he told.
Gonenc said the performance of Turkish labor force market does not seem brilliant when compared with international arena.
"There is rise in ratio of number of employed to the population at the age of working was up in all OECD countries in the last ten year, however this ratio was down in Turkey and Turkey was one of the countries where this level was the lowest," he told.
