ANKARA - Emin Aslan, Istanbul Deputy Police Chief, said Wednesday Turkey was a country which even arrested illegal migrants that left its borders.
Taking the floor at the opening ceremony of "Country Origin and Development of Asylum Information Systems Project", Aslan said security department fulfilled its obligations within the scope of Turkey's works to become a member of the European Union (EU).
Aslan said "National Action Plan on Asylum and Migration" of Turkey took effect 2 years ago, and the target of the "Country Origin and Development of Asylum Information Systems Project" was to comply Turkey's asylum system with the EU regulations.
On the other hand, Claudia Kurschat, chairperson of Germany's Federal Office for Migration and Refugees, said the project in question would help Turkey on matters like asylum and migration.
Kurschat said Turkey would reach its targets with the help of EU member states.
