BAKU - Matthew Bryza, deputy under-secretary of the U.S. Department of State, said Tuesday Turkey and Azerbaijan should reach an agreement regarding Nabucco project.
Bryza, who is currently in Azerbaijani capital of Baku to hold a series of talks, said both Turkey and Azerbaijan's stance regarding certain issues related to Nabucco project was right, and therefore, it was getting difficult to reach an agreement on the issue.
Meanwhile, in his statement to a radio station, Bryza said the actual problem concerning Nabucco project was commercial.
He reiterated that both Turkish BOTAS and Azerbaijani SOCAR had rightful theses, and the parties should reach an agreement on the issue.
Several news by Azerbaijani press previously claimed that "Ankara and Baku could not agree on the pricing of the transit passage of Azerbaijani gas through Turkey".
The Nabucco pipeline will make Turkey an energy terminal and connect Europe to large natural gas reserves of the Caspian, Middle East and Egypt.
The pipeline will be 3,300 kilometers long and cost around five billion euros to complete. It would be completed by the year 2012.
Once it is completed, the pipeline will carry 31 billion cubic meters of gas annually.
