ISTANBUL - Two cleaners were injured in an explosion which occurred on a Turkish Airlines (THY) plane at Istanbul`s Ataturk Airport, sources said.
Sources told A.A corespondent that cleaning personnel boarded the plane which flew from Aegean Izmir province to Istanbul, after passengers had disembarked.
The cleaners named Ozgur Iskender and Cevat Aydemir were injured as a wallet they found on the plane exploded.
The cleaning personnel was preparing the plane for its next flight to Stockholm, it was learned.
Iskender and Aydemir were taken to the ``International Hospital`` in Istanbul and were currently undergoing surgery.
Bomb experts launched investigation in and around the plane while police and fire brigade surrounded the plane and tightened security measures.
Officials at the Ataturk Airport are expected to make a statement about the blast.
