ANKARA - Turkish Central Bank (CB) said Tuesday that soaring food prices are behind a 1.29 percent rise in consumers prices in February and noted that this pushed the yearly inflation to 9.1 percent.
In an assessment Turkish Central Bank said fluctuations in the global crude oil market continued to be a risk factor for domestic energy prices.
CB said inflation in producer prices owed 0.41 point of its rise to agricultural goods and 2.15 point to industrial goods.
Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) announced on Monday the annual inflation in consumer prices (CPI) as 9.1 percent.
TUIK said the inflation rate in producer prices (PI) was 8.15 percent in February 2008.
Thus, the annual inflation in CPI in February 2008 was 1.06 points above February 2007 and the inflation in PI in February 2008 was 1.98 points above the same month of 2007.
