Turkey Expects 15 P.C. Rise In Number Of European Tourists

ALANYA - Turkish tour operators and hoteliers are hopeful about 2008 as early reservations confirmed a 15 percent rise in the number of European tourists.
"We can observe an increase especially in the number of German tourists," said Gulcin Guner, chairperson of Association of Touristic Enterprises in Alanya, a resort town in Antalya on the Mediterranean coast.
"If it continues so, we may not have any beds to sell to Russian tourists for high season. Because Russian tourists generally prefer last minute sales," she told the A.A.
Upon a question, Guner said recent Turkish military operations into north of Iraq had no impact on early reservations so far.
