Neither U.S. Nor Any Domestic Figure Had An Impact In Ending Our Operation, Gen. Buyukanit

ANKARA - Chief of Turkish General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said Monday that neither the United States nor any domestic figure had an impact in ending the ground operation launched by the Turkish Armed Forces against terrorist organization PKK in north of Iraq.
Briefing the media on the cross-border ground operation at General Staff's HQs in Ankara, Gen. Buyukanit told that there were some political comments made on the ground operation. "However, such comments did not have any influence on our decision," Gen. Buyukanit indicated.
"Such approaches are injustice not only to the Turkish Armed Forces but also the Republic of Turkey," Gen. Buyukanit stressed.
"Allegations that the U.S. gave the region to us for an attack and told us to end the ground operation are just unbelievable. I can not believe in such allegations. How can such a thing be possible? If it is proven that the U.S. told us to leave the region, I will give up my uniform certainly," Gen. Buyukanit remarked.
"I know who have been greatly disappointed by the ground operation. It is the terrorist organization PKK who got disappointed the biggest," Gen. Buyukanit noted.
"The honorable Turkish nation should keep on having faith in our armed forces. Our biggest weapon in the fight against terror is not arms, tanks or artilleries. It is the confidence the Turks have in their armed forces that provides us the biggest motivation and strength," Gen. Buyukanit also said.
