TSK Will Inflict Heavier Blows On PKK, General Staff

ANKARA - Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, chief of Turkish General Staff, said Monday that Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) would inflict heavier blows on terrorist organization PKK.
"When needed, land operations will continue after this," General Buyukanit told reporters in a briefing in Ankara.
Buyukanit said there has been a sound coordination among all authorities in regard to the cross-border operation.
Buyukanit said Turkish troops carried out raids against terrorist organization PKK at night and in deep snow. "They (Turkish troops) have turned disadvantages into advantages thanks to the operational capability of the armed forces," he said.
He stressed that allegations claiming PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan did not have information on termination of the operation were baseless. He said PM Erdogan`s speech to the nation was recorded on February 27th and the operation was continuing on that date.
Buyukanit replied to claims that the operation was ended because the U.S. administration asked. "If anybody can prove U.S. influence (on the decision to pull back), I will take off this uniform," Buyukanit said.
Buyukanit said striking a blow to the Zap region, showing that TSK could conduct operations under all kind of circumstances and dismaying the terrorist organization PKK were main goals of the operation. He said these goals were attained.
