ANKARA - Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit said Monday that the cross-border ground military operation into north of Iraq reached its goal and that 240 terrorists were neutralized.
"However, according to our assessments, actual loss of terrorists are much more than this. Because this amount does not include the loss caused by Turkish Air Forces," Buyukanit said.
He said Turkish Armed Forces will launch new operations if needed.
Buyukanit also reacted to claims that the operation was terminated because the U.S. administration asked.
"This is a worthless attack against not only Turkish Armed Forces but also Republic of Turkey. This is disrespectfulness to the our soldiers' blood," he added.
