Turkish President Arrives In Romania

BUCHAREST - Turkish President Abdullah Gul arrived in Romanian capital of Bucharest on a two-day formal visit on Sunday.
"Turkishness and Islam have always co-existed in the Balkans. If you separate them, it means you forget your identity," Gul told Turkish citizens living in Romania whom he met once he arrived in this EU member country.
Gul said Romanian citizens of Turkish origin constitute a bridge between Turkey and Romania and contribute to bilateral relations.
"I hope my visit would open a new page in our bilateral relations," he told.
Gul later met Turkish businessmen who run businesses in Romania, a branch of Turkey's Garanti Bankasi and attended a dinner hosted in his honor by Turkey's Ambassador to Romania Ahmet Rifat Okcun.
