MOSCOW (CIHAN) - Russian explorers claim that they have located the location of Noah's Ark that is believed to have landed on Mount Ararat nearly 4300 years ago.
Andrey Palyakov, who headed the Russian expedition on Mount Ararat, told CÝHAN that they discovered a completely new place on the Ararat, which is different from three other areas on which attention was focused. "It is nearly at the peak but it is completely different from the former places. The place we identified is different from place the US found on satellite images."
US scientists claim that Noah's Ark has been lying on the summit of Ararat while European explorers says the ark rests on Mt. Zagnos near Ishak Pasa Palace.
The recent discovery from the Russian expedition suggests that Noah's ark rests near Kulp Lake on Mount Ararat.
The Ararat-2 Russian expedition team announced that they discovered historic stones and remains in a place near a spot where the Noah Ark is believed to have landed following the flood.
Holding a press conference in Moscow to talk about their expedition, the Russian explorers said that they also deciphered an old inscription on which it was written, "Approach here without disturbing the soul." The Linguist Villi Melnikov said that the inscription was written in Urartian language. He claimed that the word "Ararat" means "unpromised miracle".
Palyakov also said that they had found something completely new but declined to elaborate on the finding. He said that they would take a group of journalists to the region on July 15 to publicize the discoveries.
A Russian expedition had carried out an exploratory campaign in Mount Ararat in 1916 upon orders from the Russian Tsar.
