ISTANBUL - Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister Rame Maraj as well as Environment & Regional Planning Minister Mahir Yagcilar arrived in Istanbul on Saturday.
Yagcilar said that they are pleased to pay their first formal visit to Turkey after Kosovo Parliament declared independence on February 27th, 2008.
He noted, "Kosovo Republic was declared two weeks ago. Rapid recognition of Kosovo by Republic of Turkey is a big happiness both for Kosovo people, government and Turks, Albanians and all other communities living in Kosovo. We want to thank Turkey, and want continuation of political cooperation in the next period too."
Noting that economic cooperation with Turkey is important for growth and development of Kosovo, Yagcilar said that they will ask Turkey to invest in Kosovo.
Yagcilar said that they will hold several formal meetings with Turkish ministers in Ankara on Monday.
