Turkey: Kidnapped Turkish Engineer Released In Afghanistan

ANKARA - Turkish engineer Ali Aksoy, who was kidnapped in Afghanistan on March 5, was released on Friday night, Turkish Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
A statement of Turkish Foreign Ministry said that Aksoy, who was captured when he was working in construction of Kabul-Kandahar highway, was brought to Turkey's Embassy in Kabul.
The statement noted that Aksoy would return to Turkey as soon as possible.
Aksoy was in good state of health, the statement pointed out.
The Foreign Ministry, in its statement, thanked Afghan officials for exerting great efforts for release of the Turkish engineer, and said that Turkey would uninterruptedly continue its contributions to efforts to ensure security and stability in Afghanistan.
Aksoy and Tolga Erdem, who were working as an engineer in a company, had been attacked by Taleban militants on Kabul-Kandahar highway in March.
Erdem died in the attack while Aksoy and his Afghan translator were abducted.
