ISTANBUL - Turkish police detained one PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist and four people who aided and abetted the terrorist organization in Istanbul, Istanbul Anti-Terrorism Department stated on Saturday.
The Department said that the PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist was sent to Istanbul after staging armed attacks in southeastern provinces of Mardin, Batman and Sirnak in order to stage sensational acts.
Four people who had links with the terrorist organization PKK/KONGRA-GEL and who aided and abetted terrorists were also detained in the operation.
Turkish police seized 2,000 U.S. dollars, a false identity card, many organizational documents and banned publications.
The Department stated that the captured terrorist had earlier been involved in ten separate acts including killing of two soldiers and a teacher in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.
The terrorist received political and military training in camps at Iran-Iraq border.
