WE CAN REDUCE AIR SPACE TO 6 MILES
Greek Defense Minister Spilios Spiliotopoulos announced Hurriyet daily that Greece could reduce air space from 10 to 6 miles. Spiliotopoulos, who replied to questions of Hurriyet only a few days are left to NATO summit, said that there would never be war between Turkey and Greece again. The Greek defense minister said that there was no need to use force in these years.

POLICE SEARCHING FOR BOMBER GIRL FOR ONE YEAR
The terrorist who died in the explosion in Istanbul two days ago was identified as Semiran Polat, who was born in Mazgirt town of eastern Tunceli province. The terrorist girl, who killed three people and injured 18 others by exploding a bomb on a bus, had earlier bombed a military vehicle in Halkali, branch of the Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Club of Judges in Istanbul. The 29-year-old terrorist, who left school six years ago when she was a student of the Mersin University, was a member of the illegal, leftist DHKP-C organization.

PHONE RINGS, BOMB EXPLODES
Bomb was exploded in a city bus in Capa district of Istanbul on Thursday by a mechanism. The bomb that Semiran Polat carried in city bus exploded after her mobile phone ringed. It is guessed that the bomb was exploded by a remote mechanism. It was found out that 29-year-old Polat had been wanted by police, as she was involved in bomb attacks on Justice and Development Party (AK Party) building and a military service vehicle in Halkali district of Istanbul.

BAYKAL: ''ISLAM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR TERRORISM''
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal gave important messages in the meeting of Socialist International Committee on Peace, Democracy and Human Rights, hosted by CHP. Speaking at the opening of the meeting, Baykal said that Islam religion was not responsible for terrorism. Baykal stated that NATO's undertaking responsibility in Iraq directly was not right and noted that peace and security could not be restored in Iraq yet despite a very big military intervention.

HISTORIC OPPORTUNITY
Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul told Sabah daily that NATO summit would be a good opportunity to show modern, culturally rich and powerful Turkey. Gul said that the summit was an excellent opportunity to promote Turkey. Gul noted, ''heads of state and government of 46 countries are coming to Turkey. A decision about our country will be taken three or four months later. All the EU leaders will be here. Everybody will only remember Istanbul's beauties after the summit ends.''

BUSH COMING WITH A CRITICAL REQUEST
U.S. President George Bush will tell Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that Turkish-Israeli relations should not be harmed. Bush will take up Turkish-Israeli relations during his visit to Turkish capital of Ankara as Erdogan has increased his criticisms of Israel and as the Jewish lobby in the United States has been uneasy about these criticisms. Bush will stress importance of Turkish-Israeli alliance with a diplomatic style instead of clearly expressing the uneasiness. Bush will say that Turkey and Israel have much in common in respect with fight against terrorism and democratic traditions.

BUSH SAYS TURKEY IS A MODEL COUNTRY
U.S. President George W. Bush said that he considered that Turkey was a model country in the Greater Middle East Initiative ahead of NATO Summit that will be held in Istanbul on June 28 and 29. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier said that Turkey did not have any desire and did not extend any effort to be a model for anyone. Bush who did not keep his promise on elimination of terrorist organization PKK from the northern part of Iraq refrained from a concrete commitment to fight against terrorist organization. Bush stated that economy, fight against terrorism and Turkey's relations with its neighbors would be discussed during his visit to Ankara.

DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST NATO SUMMIT
Many mass democratic organizations held demonstrations against NATO Summit that will be held in Istanbul, Turkey. Many people protested NATO Summit in Ankara, Istanbul and Izmir provinces. Members of a socialist platform collected signs against NATO Summit to be held in Turkey and submitted signs to the Turkish parliament.

PREPARATIONS COMPLETED
Preparations for the NATO summit to be held in Istanbul, which has a key importance for the role that the Alliance will undertake in the 21st century, have been completed. Nineteen different places have been named for protests during the summit. 184 streets and roads have been closed to traffic. Officials warned citizens of not using their private cars.

BUSH COMING
U.S. President George Bush and his wife Laura Bush are coming to Ankara this evening. Bush will meet with Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Bush will discuss the terrorist organization PKK, Greater Middle East Initiative and Cyprus in his meetings.

TERRORISM IS BIGGEST THREAT
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke at a conference ''The New Atlantic Alliance At a New Crossroads'' held at the Ciragan Palace. Erdogan said, ''we are obliged to form an international platform of joint fight against terrorism. We should never allow fight against terrorism to lose its importance. In this context, Afghanistan is the most important test before NATO.'' Erdogan stated that terrorism was a phenomenon, the target of which was never certain.

NATO TORMENT
When the arteries in Turkish capital Ankara were closed to traffic due to U.S. President George Bush's visit, transportation was paralyzed. Many streets in Istanbul were also closed to traffic while many events have been cancelled. Some passengers missed the plane as traffic was paralyzed due to police control at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.

BUSH PROMISES TO COUNTER PKK
U.S. President George W. Bush will come to Ankara this evening before the historic NATO summit to be held in Istanbul between June 28 and 29. Speaking to reporters before his visit to Ankara, Bush stressed importance of historical relations between his country and Turkey. Bush said that he would take up joint fight against the terrorist organization PKK stationed in the north of Iraq. Bush stated that Turkey and the United States would work together in countering PKK, adding that they were after the terrorists. Bush stressed that his country would work both with Turkish and the Iraqi government to fight against terrorism.

BAYKAL EXPLAINS ISLAM TO WORLD LEFTIST GROUPS
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal explained Islam in the meeting of the Socialist International Committee on Peace, Democracy and Human Rights hosted in Istanbul by his party. Addressing the representatives of the world leftist group before NATO summit, Baykal said that Islam was not responsible for terrorism and violence, and noted that source of terrorism and violence should be searched in totalitarian regimes.
