ISTANBUL - Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said on Friday that ''Healthy Environment for Children'' was the main topic of the Fourth Meeting of Environment and Health Ministers of the World Health Organization (WHO) held in Hungarian capital Budapest.
Speaking at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, Akdag said Environment and health ministers of 48 countries and around 1000 representatives from various organizations attended the three-day meeting.
Akdag said the meeting aimed at improving cooperation and dialogue in European region in health and environment areas, stating that environment and health; sheltering and health; extraordinary weather conditions; and health in Europe were also discussed at the meeting.
''Turkey will also start action plan of the European Union (EU) on children health,'' Akdag said.
Akdag also said Health Ministry prepared health centers and health units in various regions in Istanbul within NATO summit preparations.
