DARGECIT - People of Dargecit town in southeastern province of Mardin Friday condemned armed attack on main police station in the town on June 9 and terrorist organization PKK/KONGRA-GEL.
People held a rally in the center of the town and marched to the main police station on which terrorists had staged an armed attack on June 9.
Merchants and shop owners backed the rally by pulling down their shutters. On the shutters, there were notices which read, ''We Don't Want Terror, But Peace.''
People also chanted slogans saying, ''Down With PKK''.
Reading out a press statement on behalf of Dargecit residents, mayor Mahmut Kilic said they had suffered much from terrorism in the past.
''We know very well that terrorism has not benefited anybody and humanity, but it has resulted in only pain, death and tears. We shout that we don't want any disorder, terror and violence in our town. We here declare that we condemn every kind of terrorism whatever its purpose and source are,'' he said.
A group of PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorists had opened harassing fire with long-range weapons on the main police station and Gendarmerie Command building in the town late on June 9.
There were no casualties in those armed attacks.
