MOSCOW (CIHAN) - One of closest aides of the assassinated Russian-backed Chechen leader Ahmet Kadirov, Yakov Sergunin has been killed in Moscow on Friday morning.
Yakov Sergunin was shot dead on Friday morning in Pakrovka Street by unidentified assailants, Moscow Security Authority officials have said. Sergunin's wife was wounded in the same attack. The assailants open fired with automatic rifles and then fled the scene on motorbikes.
50-year old Yakov Sergunin had been serving as prime minister of the Russian-backed Chechen Administration from 2001 until recently.
Yakov Sergunin had been known as the 'accountant' of Ahmet Kadirov.
On May 9, the Russian-supported Chechen President Ahmed Kadirov and 32 other people died in a bomb explosion in Groznyy.
