ANKARA - Turkish Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu and Syrian Agriculture Minister Adil Safir signed on Thursday a protocol on Turkey-Syria First Term Agricultural Executive Committee Meeting.
Guclu said that political relations which have developed between Turkey and Syria were an appropriate basis for the development of relations between real sectors of two countries as well.
Emphasizing the high-ranking visits paid between two countries in recent periods, Guclu stressed that those visits were important for the compensation of delays happened in relations between two countries. Noting that political basis formed an appropriate cooperation basis between real sectors and especially for agriculture sector, Guclu said that inclusion of all proposals of Turkey, which were suggested during the meetings, was encouraging for the development of relations.
Safir said that they attributed importance to the development of relations with Turkey and added that they were determined for development of economic, political and cultural relations with Turkey. He said that they wanted a strategical partnership and a distinguished relation with Turkey.
The protocol envisages cooperation on vegetable production and protection of plant, animal health, fishery, agricultural researches, soil and water preservation and agricultural education.
