ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - The Turkish state-owned Aycell and the Turkish-Italian joint corporation, Aria, which merged into TT&TIM Communication Services Corp. in February 2004, are promoting their new brand 'Avea' on Wednesday.
The TT&TIM Company was established from the merging of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the operators Aria and Aycell. Its new brand name is Avea.
The General Manager of TT&TIM, Cahit Paksoy issued a statement saying, "TT&TIM is the largest company in Turkey with a value of 6.4 quadrillion Turkish Liras. We aim to reach out to a large number of customers with 6,500 base stations in 2005 and to be the second largest GSM operator in Turkey by the end of 2004. We also plan to increase our market share in Turkey from 15 percent to 30 percent by the end of 2006."
He also stated that subscriber numbers beginning with 505 and 555 will continue to be used under the Avea brand.
The Turkish state-owned Aycell and the Turkish-Italian Joint Corporation, Aria completed their merger in February. Aycell-Aria will have a combined total of roughly 4 million customers.
