Istanbul Police Carry Out Security Exercise For Nato Summit

ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Istanbul police carried out drills on Tuesday night as part of the preparation for the crucial NATO Summit in Istanbul.
The 480 vehicles that will carry the arriving NATO delegates from Istanbul airport to the NATO summit valley attended the exercise.
The police teams that will serve at the summit attended the exercise. The police and their vehicles arrived outside the airport and took the stand-in NATO delegates from the airport. The vehicles escorting the delegation followed the path from the airport to the hotels where the NATO delegates will stay during the 2-day summit.
Police officers reviewed security measures in detail during the exercise. During the exercise, roads leading to the main hotels were closed.
Istanbul Security Authority Chief Celalettin Cerrah directed the exercise.
Security across Turkey is under the spotlight in the run-up to the NATO Summit that will be held in Istanbul on June 28-29. Istanbul will be under air, sea and land security watch during the NATO summit.
Nearly 20 thousand security forces will be on duty during the summit. A total of 230 security guards who know foreign languages will be deployed.
