ANKARA - Turkish Agriculture and Rural Affairs Minister Sami Guclu said on Wednesday that he believed there was a big cooperation potential between Turkey and Syria.
Syrian Agriculture Minister Adil Safir visited Guclu.
Guclu said that relations between Turkey and Syria should be further developed.
Guclu said that two countries could make cooperation on grain farming, dry farming techniques, cotton raising, organic agriculture, seeding, stock raising, irrigation and agricultural researches.
''We will take the first steps for implementation of these issues during the First Term Agricultural Executive Committee Meeting, which will be held today, and with the Memorandum of Understanding, to be signed tomorrow. I believe that our cooperation has increased and relations between Turkey and Syria will reach a better level,'' added Guclu.
Syrian Agriculture Minister Safir said that he was pleased to be in Turkey.
Safir said that a new page was opened between two countries following the visit of Syrian President Bashar al-Asad to Turkey. He added that they wanted to deepen relations and carry them to the highest stage. He said that he did not think any difficulty would emerge on that issue.
