ANKARA - Ozdemir Ozok, the chairman of the Bars Union of Turkey (TBB), said Monday he has given a petition to President Abdullah Gul about their concerns and legal views regarding the constitutional amendment on headscarf that was adopted by the parliament on Saturday.
The bill amended articles 10 and 42 of the Constitution.
"I also submitted the president the conclusions of our meeting with chairmen of bars throughout Turkey that took place on Saturday," he told reporters.
Ozok said he requested the president to show sensitivity.
"The president told me that he has not yet made a decision about this issue," he told.
Ozok said their goal is the implementation of democracy, human rights, rule of law and state of law principles in all institutions.
"We do not want anybody to be treated unjustly but we think everything (every behavior) should be in line with rules, laws and constitution," he told.
