ANKARA - Democratic Society Party (DTP) submitted Monday its initial argument to the Constitutional Court in a case filed for the closure of the party.
Deputies Hasip Kaplan (DTP, Sirnak) and Hamit Geylani (Independent, Hakkari) submitted the defense on the last day of an extended deadline to present the legal argument.
Supreme Court of Appeals chief prosecutor applied last November to the court asking the closure of the DTP. Eleven-strong court will make a decision on whether the DTP has to be closed.
The court will seek a qualified majority -- seven votes in favor -- to close the party.
