ANKARA - Binali Yildirim, Turkish Minister of Transportation, said Monday third bridge over Bogazici (Bosphorus) would be constructed to the north of existing bridges.
Speaking to reporters during an inauguration ceremony in the northern province of Trabzon, Yildirim said he did not want to talk about details of the location of the third bridge to be built over Bosphorus in order not to give chance to speculators.
Yildirim commented on build-operate-transfer projects and pointed out infrastructure investments had high costs and its turnaround took a long time.
He said it was not possible to finance those investments with public funds and it was necessary to make use of the financial resources and "know how" of the private sector.
"We have expanded the build-operate-transfer legislation and included different aspects in it. It will be brought to parliament next week. When it is adopted all obstacles will be removed, " said Yildirim.
Yildirim said first application of this law would be in Istanbul-Izmit Bay and Bursa-Izmir highway projects.
