Chinghiz Aitmatov To Be Nominated For Nobel Literature Prize

ANKARA - Chinghiz Aitmatov, a world-known author of Kyrgyz Turks, will be nominated for Nobel Literature Prize.
Ataturk Culture, Language & History Higher Board Chairman Prof. Sadik Kemal Tural told A.A that they have set up a committee --comprised of scientists, artists and writers from Turkish republics-- to nominate Aitmatov for Nobel Prize on the 80th anniversary of his birthday.
Tural stressed that books of Aitmatov were translated into 154 different languages.
Tural said they have prepared application texts in Turkish, English and German languages, adding that they will apply in coming days.
Aitmatov --born on December 12th, 1928 in Talas city of Kyrgyzstan-- studied at Maxim Gorky Literature Institute between 1956 and 1958. He started working at Pravda newspaper. He won Lenin Prize in 1963. White Rain, Jamila, The Day Lasts More Than A Hundred Years and The Scaffold are some of his books.
