MARDIN (CIHAN) - One member of the outlawed Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK) and three other people aiding the militants were captured in the southeastern Turkish province of Mardin in an anti-terror operation, security sources said on Tuesday.
One PKK-KOGRA-GEL militant O.K., who arrived in the city center to carry out armed and bomb attacks on security forces, was captured in the operation. Security officers seized two hand grenades, three clips, 91 bullets, an assault rifle and documents.
Three more people were captured, who are suspected of aiding and abetting the captured terrorist. The captured terrorist was reported to have been in the terror organization for five years.
Four detainees were brought before the court. The Court arrested the four and sent them to prison.
Meanwhile, two men were detained in Karayazi town of Erzurum, eastern Turkey, on suspicion of aiding and abetting members of the PKK Kongragel terror organization.
Five militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK/KONGRA-GEL) were killed in anti-terror operations in the central eastern Turkish city of Tunceli on Monday.
The PKK/KONGRA-GEL called off its unilateral six-year ceasefire in early June.
The separatist activities of the outlawed PKK/KADEK terror organization claimed nearly 30,000 lives in the region. However, the insurgency of the terror organization has declined sharply following the capture of organization leader Abdullah Öcalan.
