GAZIANTEP (CIHAN) - Nearly 100 guests were poisoned from eating wedding cakes in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep on Monday.
The guests were attending the wedding of Özalp and Safak Atar in Gaziantep. The poisoned guests were taken to the local city hospital. Patients in critical condition include Sacire Duysak (23), Nermin Samancioglu (33), Nimet Kýsa (38), Sükriye Cerit (42), Serpil Samancioglu (26), Emine Kökler (24), Elif Kesicioglu (27), Gülay Dagirmenci (44), Sevim Degirmencioglu (15) and Meltem Köklü (23). Six children including Naile Cerit (5), Kadir Murat Kocalar (2) and Mehmet Said Kocalar (6) were lifted to Children`s Hospital.
The hosts of the wedding ceremony said that they would sue the owner of Duru Wedding Hall which provided the cakes.
An investigation into the incident is underway.
In a separate incident, some 80 guests were poisoned at a wedding celebration in the village of Ahmetler, Gerede, near Bolu on Sunday.
