IZMIR - Turkey's Aegean city of Izmir, the candidate city for EXPO 2015 with the theme "New routes to a Better World/Health For All", will host the delegates of the Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) at the 2nd International Symposium, which will be held on February 14th and 15th.
Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag, former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroder, BIE Chairman Jean Pierre Lafon, Governor of Izmir Cahit Kirac and Mayor of Izmir Aziz Kocaoglu will deliver speeches at the symposium, the last international event before voting to choose the host city.
EXPO 2015 is the next scheduled World's Fair after Expo 2012. The 2015 location has not yet been decided, and will be announced in March 2008.
Two candidate cities, Izmir and Italy's Milan, are competing to host the event, which is cited as the third largest event in the world in terms of economic and cultural impact, after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games.
