MUNICH - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who had a meeting with Guenter Beckstein, Minister-President of State of Bavaria, in Munich said there have been deep-rooted friendly ties between Turkey and Germany.
Germany supported Turkey's EU accession process during the past five years and Turkey expected that its support would also continue in the next period, Erdogan said.
Trade volume between the two countries amounted to 22 billion U.S. dollars at the end of 2007, he stated.
"There are schools giving education in German language in Turkey and works are under way for establishment of an university whose education language will be German. I consider that such initiatives will yield favorable grounds for the future," Erdogan said.
On the other hand, Beckstein said Turkish people were living in Bavaria in peace.
PM Erdogan also had a meeting with Munich Mayor Christian Ude.
