Cicek: Some Legal Changes Should Be Made In Parallel With Recent Constitutional Amendment

ANKARA - Turkish Justice Minister and government spokesman Cemil Cicek said on Monday, ''changes should be made in some laws in parallel with the recent package of constitutional amendments.''
Holding a press conference after meeting of the Turkish Council of Ministers, Cicek said, ''changes should be made in some laws in parallel with the recent package of constitutional amendments. Although death sentence was totally removed from the Constitution, there are articles about death sentence in many laws, especially in the Penal Code. We will submit the ninth package envisaging amendment to several laws to the parliament in the coming days.''
''The ninth package has a technical content. It envisages amendments to 8-9 laws such as the laws of Higher Education Board (YOK), and Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) and the Penal Code,'' Cicek added.
