LUDWIGSHAFEN - Ergun Aydogan, a deputy of Republican People's Party (CHP), and Ali Kilic, a member of the CHP Assembly and chairman of the Turkish-German Friendship Association, have arrived on Thursday in the German city of Ludwigshafen where nine Turks lost life due to a fire.
Speaking to the press in front of the building where the fire took place on February 3rd, Aydogan indicated that the German government should not be concerned with the presence of Turkish officials who came to examine the building where a fire left nine Turks dead on Sunday.
"Investigating an incident should not be viewed as interference in domestic matters of a country. We have no intention to interfere in domestic matters of any country," Aydogan underlined.
We do not want to make statements that would leave a group or individual as guilty, Aydogan noted.
"We will examine the apartment building where the fire took place and present a report to CHP chairman Deniz Baykal," Aydogan stressed.
Meanwhile, Ali Kilic, chairman of the Turkish-German Friendship Association, said the fire incident in Ludwigshafen burned the hearts of Turkish people and should never reoccur.
"We have lost nine lives here. Authorities must understand the reaction of the Turks. We should not let escalation of tension. We have confidence in German judges and expect an explanation regarding the fire," Kilic told.
