HYDERABAD - Turkish Foreign Minister and Chief Negotiator for EU talks Ali Babacan addressed Turkish and Indian entrepreneurs in Indian city of Hyderabad on Thursday.
In a speech titled "Turkey and India: Rich Past, Bright Future," Babacan told that as the first Turkish FM visiting India after 30 years, he is honored to be in India.
"I hope that my current visit to India will be a turning point in relations between Turkey and India," Babacan said.
"Turkey and India share common values such as democracy, secularism, the rule of law, tolerance and plurality. There are many areas in which the two countries can work together in the future. We watch with appreciation India's recent social progress," Babacan indicated.
"Turkey and India have economies that are growing rapidly. Technological advantages that both countries carry could be turned into areas of economic cooperation," Babacan indicated.
"Our countries can especially cooperate in the areas of energy, construction, iron and steel, tourism, agriculture and informatics technologies," Babacan underlined.
"Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and a large delegation will pay a visit to India next month. The Turkish government wishes to sign a free trade agreement with India," Babacan remarked.
