ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Monday that they would respect issues on which Iraqi people would make decision on their own.
Gul met with Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) Chairman Faruk Abdurrahman.
Following the meeting, Gul said that they would respect issues on which Iraqi people make decision on their own by taking into account their own facts. He stressed that any structuring that would cause divisions in the future was very dangerous, adding that they did not approve it.
Gul noted that they hoped that political and territorial integrity of Iraq would be protected, Iraq would reach stability in a democratic way and everyone would benefit from prosperity. He underlined that they would not allow any fait accompli in Kirkuk.
When a reporter said that the United States did not approach warmly to staging an operation against terrorist organization PKK/KONGRA-GEL in near future, Gul said that they always expected a country which was an authority in Iraq to take necessary steps against an organization that was described as terrorist organization.
