ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Fenerbahce's Brazilian clinical attacking midfielder Alex De Souza signed 3-year contract with club on Sunday.
Brazilian international midfielder penned 3-year contract in club headquarter in presence of Co-chairmen Hakan Bilal Kutlualp and Mahmut Uslu, club director Ilhan Eksioglu.
Turkish champions Fenerbahce have at last finalized the transfer of Alexsandro De Souza.
Co-chairmen told the signature ceremony that Fenerbahce targets to attain European Championship within 5 years.
Alex said that he would fight for Fenerbahce's success.
Fenerbahçe, aka the 'Yellow Canaries' had reached a deal on a 3-year contract with the Brazilian star playmaker Alex De Souza early this month in Brazil. Fenerbahce had been seeking to land the Brazilian player for over a year.
The Yellow Canaries, who will compete in the UEFA champions league next year, have been stepping up their efforts to form a strong and in-depth squad to cope with the world-class teams in the top flight of European football.
The signing of Alex is expected to cost nearly $17-million to Fenerbahce. Alex had arrived in Turkey yesterday. Nearly 1 000 Fenerbahce fans welcomed the Brazilian player in airport.
The former Parma play is expected to solve the organizational problem in Fenerbahce's midfield.
Alex will be the 4th Brazilian player in the Fenerbahce squad. The Yellow Canaries already have a Brazilian defender, midfielder and forward.
The Yellow Canaries have already agreed to sign Turkish midfielder Serkan Balcý from Genclerbirligi and pacy winger Murat Hacýoglu from Diyarbakýrspor.
