WASHINGTON - Republican Senator John McCain won New York state's presidential primary Tuesday taking the lion's share of the 101 delegates at stake, US media projected.
McCain won a huge boost to his White House campaign when former New York mayor Rudolph Giuliani dropped out of the race last week and endorsed the Arizona senator and Vietnam war veteran.
Television networks Fox and NBC called the New York race for McCain, who was already said to have won in New Jersey, Illinois, Delaware and Connecticut in the 24-state Super Tuesday nominating contest.
