OUR FIRST TORNADO DISASTER: THREE DEAD
Tornado, which hit Sunlu village of Cubuk town in Ankara, killed three people and injured 21 others. The tornado also lifted roofs off several buildings and flipped vehicles.
Hayriye Cimli and her children Kursat and Bahar, the residents of the village, were working in the field when the tornado hit them. The family hid in a lorry to rescue from the rain and wind. However, the tornado caused the lorry to fly up for meters and later the lorry crashed down killing the woman and the children.

U.S. SOLDIER KILL TURKISH DRIVER
Gunfire was opened near U.S. check-point on a vehicle near Baghdad. Turkish driver of the car Faysal Demir died and Ali Musluoglu and an Iraqi citizen who were in the car were wounded.

U.S. FIRE ON TURKISH VEHICLE
The U.S. soldiers opened fire when Ali Musluoglu, the owner of transportation firm that carries equipment to Americans in Iraq, and his driver Faysal Demir did not stop at police check point while entering Baghdad. Faysal Demir died.

TORNADO TERROR
Tornado hit Cubuk town of Ankara. The tornado which lasted 25 minutes flew the trucks, destroyed 19 houses and three people died.

POLICE CANNOT GIVE UP CAMERA
The circular of Interior Ministry which bans record of meetings and demonstrations to camera did not affect the police. Ankara police recorded upon ''request'' while Diyarbakir police recorded as the meeting was ''illegal''.

RAIN PARALYSES DAILY LIFE
Heavy rain turned some streets of Istanbul into a river. The vehicles were stranded in traffic, and some houses and business places were inundated.
Daily life was paralyzed in Avcilar, Esenyurt, Bayrampasa, Eyup, Kagithane, Kartal and Pendik districts because of the heavy rain which started in early hours of the morning. Around 300 houses and business places were inundated. Many vehicles were stranded in traffic and there had been many traffic accidents.

LANDMINE KILLS A SOLDIER
One soldier died and another one was wounded when a military vehicle ran over a landmine in southeastern Bingol province.
The military vehicle, carrying soldiers, ran over the landmine reported to be planted by terrorist PKK/Kongra-Gel.
Private Mustafa Aydin died and another soldier, who was injured, was hospitalized.
Operations continue in the region.

EIGHT ARTICLE FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM PACKAGE TO BE ANNOUNCED IN NATO SUMMIT
The 8-article package, which will be announced during Istanbul NATO summit, envisages the alliance to form an intelligence unit against terrorist threats. NATO package underlines importance of cooperation in fight against terrorism and states that this cooperation should be made not only with member countries but also with the associate partner countries in NATO. Fight against terrorism will not only be limited with the elements in the package. NATO plans to add security dimension to the Greater Middle East Initiative announced by G-8 countries.

IMF DELEGATION TO DEPART FROM TURKEY
International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation led by Turkey Desk Chief Reza Moghadam, who was in Turkey for the 8th Review, will depart from Turkey at the beginning of next week.
The IMF delegation, who stayed in Turkey for nearly two weeks, evaluated consultation works envisaged to be made within the scope of article 4, and relations with IMF after 2004 as well as the 8th Review.

ARGUMENT FOR ''SEMINARY''
Discussions regarding opening of Heybeliada Seminary, which is important for Turkish-Greek relations and the EU, became tense. Report of the Turkish National Education Ministry that would be given to Foreign Ministry is about to be completed. National Education Minister Huseyin Celik thinks the Higher Education Board (YOK) should be changed.
YOK Chairman Erdogan Tezic is against the preparations of the ruling. He said this school cannot be linked to YOK, as there are constitutional obstacles. Loyalty to Ataturk's principles are among the main provisions of YOK. Will Heybeliada seminary abide by those rules?, he said.

TORNADO TERROR
Three people wanted to hide inside the truck during the tornado happened in Sunlu village of Cubuk town of Ankara. The tornado flied up the truck for 30 meters and then slammed it on the ground and caused three people to die. Nearly 20 houses were rendered unusable. 14 people were injured and three of them were in bad condition.

YANIK: I DON'T GO EVEN IF THEY GIVE DEED OF IRAQ
The driver Bulent Yanik who was rescued from Iraq told 17 days full of terror. He said that everything he experienced were like nightmare and he did not know where he was going as his eyes were covered. He added that they would kill him but when they learned that he was Muslim they did not and they treated well. Yanik said that while they were releasing him they told him not to come again and not to carry food to Americans.

SOUTHEAST STANDS AGAINST TERROR
People in southeast region of Turkey gave a clear message yesterday to those who wanted to deteriorate peace and stability milieu that had been settled with the end of terrorism. Thousands of people who rushed into streets in Sirnak province reacted against the recent attacks on security forces. Although demonstrations were held in different places, the message was common: ''we have suffered the pains of terror nearly 20 years. Now we don't want to return those days.''

TEM HIGHWAY FLOODED IN ISTANBUL
The heavy rain which started suddenly in Istanbul paralyzed daily life yesterday. Ayamama river overflow due to rain. The water of river covered TEM highway and the road between Ikitelli and airport was closed. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck.
