ANKARA (CIHAN) - The Turkish Savings and Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF) yesterday auctioned off 187 out of 319 properties belonging to 22 banks which it had previously seized. 10 properties of the confiscated Bayýndýrbank were also sold at the auction.
A total of 53.1 trillion Turkish Liras was earned from properties owned by the banks seized by the TMSF. 187 properties were sold at a public auction organized by auction-planners TURYAP on June 17 in Istanbul.
The state auditory body, the TMSF, brought in a total of 31.3 trillion Turkish liras from selling off the 187 properties. 4 pieces of real estates belonging to Bayýndýrbank were sold for 49.1 billion Turkish liras.
The estimated individual value of 65 properties of the 319 in question - including lands, business offices and houses in 35 cities - is over 100 billion TL.
The cheapest property was a terrain in the southern Turkish city of Hatay, while the most expensive property is a former Simtel factory in Eyüp, Istanbul valued at around 4 trillion 150 billion TL. However, no one was willing to buy the Simtel factory.
The TMSF had previously seized 22 banks including Imar Bank, Pamukbank, Etibank, Bank Capital, Bayýndirbank, Yasarbank, Demirbank Bank, Sitebank, Toprakbank, Sümerbank, Interbank, Yurtbank, Iktisat Bankasý, Kentbank and Esbank.
