Foreign Trade Deficit During January - April Rises To $10.4 Billion

ANKARA (CIHAN) - Turkey's foreign trade deficit for the first four months of 2004 rose by 87.7 percent to 10.4 billion dollars, while the foreign trade deficit during April alone totalled 3 billion dollars.
According to the figures issued by the State Statistics Institute, the foreign trade deficit during January-April 2004 rose by 87.7 percent to 10.4 billion dollars. Turkish exports rose by 29.8 percent to 18.2 billion dollars, while imports increased by 46.2 percent to 28.6 billion dollars during the same period of 2004.
Turkish exports for April 2004 reached 4.9 billion dollars with a 34.6 percent increase, while imports rose by 52.5 percent to 7.9 billion dollars.
The foreign trade deficit during the first three months of 2004 was 7.2 billion dollars. Turkish exports during March 2004 had risen by 27.9 percent to 4 billion 999 million US Dollars and imports for the same month had increased by 40.9 percent to 8 billion 107 million dollars.
