ANKARA - Turkish Presidential Office said it hoped that everybody had taken lessons from the sufferings caused by terrorism, Turkish Presidential Foreign Affairs Chief Adviser Sermet Atacanli said on Friday.
Atacanli told a press briefing that recent terrorist attacks were very saddening and recalled that Turkey had suffered much from terrorism in the last 15 years.
Asked how Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer evaluated recent terrorist attacks and release of four former Democracy Party (DEP) deputies, Atacanli said that President Sezer felt deep sorrow that some citizens, state officials and soldiers lost their lives due to recent terrorist attacks.
''We hope that everybody has taken lesson from these agonies and sufferings and will do his/her best to prevent recurrence of such agonies,'' Atacanli said.
Former DEP deputies had not requested any appointment from Sezer, Atacanli noted.
Atacanli said that if former DEP deputies requested appointment from Sezer, the Presidential Office would consider it and do what was necessary when he replied to a question if Sezer would receive DEP deputies.
Four former DEP deputies including Leyla Zana, Hatip Dicle, Orhan Dogan and Selim Sadak were released from prison on June 9, 2004. They had served ten years of their 15-year sentence before they were freed.
