ISTANBUL - Turkish police have seized 615 kg of hashish in an operation, Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah said on Friday.
Cerrah who held a news conference said that an operation was staged in southern Mersin province, western Izmir province and Istanbul.
Cerrah stated that police stopped and searched a vehicle in Istanbul on June 15, 2004 and found 615 kg of hashish.
He noted that security teams caught two people in Mersin, four people in Izmir and four in Istanbul in connection with drug smuggling.
Officials said that 10 suspects were sent to Istanbul State Security Court (DGM).
