State Institute Of Statistics Announces Foreign Trade Indices In April Of 2004

ANKARA - The State Institute of Statistics (SIS) released on Monday the foreign trade indices for April of 2004.
In April 2004, exports and imports amount to 4 million 930 thousand 129 and 7 million 949 thousand 349 U.S. dollars respectively. As compared to April 2003, exports and imports have increased 34.6 percent and 52.5 percent respectively. Exports and imports figures for April 2003 were 3 million 662 thousand 183, and 5 million 211 thousand 102 U.S. dollars, respectively.
The foreign trade deficit rose 94.9 percent to 3 billion 192 million U.S. dollars in April of 2004.
In the first four months of 2004, Turkey raised 18 billion 209.2 million U.S. dollars through exports and its imports amounted to 28 billion 627.7 million U.S. dollars. The rise in exports was 29.8 percent while imports climbed by 46.2 percent between January and April 2004.
Foreign trade deficit increased by 87.7 percent to 10 billion 418.5 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Turkey raised an income of 14 billion 27.6 million U.S. dollars through exports and made 19 billion 578.2 million U.S. dollars of imports in the same period of the previous year. Turkey's foreign trade deficit was 5 billion 550.6 million U.S. dollars in January-April 2003.
