Tuzmen: E.U. Has To Give A Certain Signal On Turkey's E.U. Membership

BRUSSELS - Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Thursday that the European Union (EU) had to give a certain signal on Turkey's EU membership.
Tuzmen delivered a speech in ''Turkey's European Union (EU) End-Game?'' conference organized by think tank ''Friends of Europe'', the Union of Turkish Chambers of Commodity Exchanges (TOBB), the Turkish Exporters' Assembly (TIM) and Istanbul Textile and Ready-to-Wear Clothing Exporters Union (ITKIB) in Brussels.
Stating that Turkey's EU membership became a national project, Tuzmen noted that Turkish government extended great efforts that have never been seen before.
Tuzmen recalled that Turkey and EU signed Association Agreement 40 years ago and noted, ''we cannot be at the same place after 40 years. We should give a name to this relation.''
He noted that advantages that Turkey would bring to EU should be explained to EU public opinion better.
